Samstanling Monastry Tour

Samstanling Monastery (Gonpa) in Nubra Valley is a historic Gelugpa Buddhist monastery founded in the late 19th century by Lama Tsultim Nima. Located in Sumur village, about 115–124 km from Leh, it is known for its serene setting, vibrant murals, and spiritual significance.

Gelukpa {Yellow Hat}:

Samstanling Gonpa in Sumur, Nubra Valley, Ladakh, is a prominent monastery of the Gelukpa (Yellow Hat) tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, founded by Je Tsongkhapa in the 15th century. It is one of the key centers of monastic learning and practice in Ladakh, closely tied to the Dalai Lama’s lineage.

Assembly Hall:

Its assembly hall is richly decorated with murals of Buddha, Dharma Chakra, and the Four Heavenly Kings, making it a spiritual and cultural centerpiece of the region.
