Proposal to Bring Sacred Buddha Relics to Ladakh During Buddha Purnima 2026

A proposal to bring the sacred Buddha Relics to Ladakh during Buddha Purnima 2026 is currently under consideration by the authorities. The proposal was submitted by Tashi Namgyal, Director of the Flowering Dharma Trust, who requested that the sacred relics be hosted in Ladakh for devotees and the general public.


The matter was forwarded through the Tourism and Culture Department of the Union Territory administration. Later, the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, also wrote to the Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, requesting him to examine the proposal and consider the possibility of facilitating the visit.
In his letter, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted that the people of Ladakh would feel deeply honoured to welcome the sacred relics. He noted that their presence in the region would hold great spiritual and cultural importance and could inspire devotion, strengthen harmony among communities, and promote peace and moral values.
Officials have stated that the proposal is now being examined by the concerned authorities for further action.
