LG Ladakh Reviews Arrangements for Holy Exposition of Sacred Buddha Relics in UT Ladakh with All Rinpoches

Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, chaired a high-level preparatory meeting at Raj Niwas to review arrangements for the upcoming Holy Exposition of the Sacred Buddha Relics in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The meeting was held in the presence of all revered Rinpoches and spiritual heads of Ladakh, reflecting the collective participation of the monastic community in preparing for this historic spiritual event.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Ashish Kundra, along with senior government officials and prominent Rinpoches representing monasteries from across the region. Discussions focused on security arrangements, crowd management, logistics, transportation, volunteer coordination, and the organisation of spiritual programmes during the exposition.
The Chief Secretary informed that the sacred relics are expected to arrive in Leh between April 28 and April 29, with a grand ceremonial reception planned on May 1. The relics will be respectfully placed at Jivetsal Monastery for public exposition, where they will remain on display for around 15 days, allowing devotees from across Ladakh and visitors from other parts of the country to offer prayers and seek blessings.

Officials assured that necessary arrangements will be made to facilitate smooth transportation, security, and coordination among various departments to ensure maximum participation while maintaining order and safety during the sacred event.
The Lieutenant Governor described the exposition as a historic and spiritually significant occasion for Ladakh, inspired by his recent visit to view the sacred Piprahwa Buddha Relics in New Delhi. He emphasised the need for time-bound planning, formation of specialised sub-committees, and seamless coordination among departments to manage logistics, security, medical facilities, and volunteer services.

Highlighting the universal message of the Buddha’s teachings, the Lt Governor stressed that the exposition should promote peace and harmony in times of global conflict. He encouraged the organisation of mass prayers, collective mantra chanting, and an interfaith seminar, allowing Ladakh to send a powerful message of compassion, unity, and spiritual wisdom to the world.
He further directed departments to disseminate information among tourists expected to visit Ladakh in May and urged citizens, youth organisations, and religious institutions to extend full support. The presence and guidance of the Rinpoches and monastic leaders of Ladakh were recognised as central to ensuring that the sacred exposition becomes a deeply meaningful spiritual gathering for the people of Ladakh and the global Buddhist community.
