ng Lodos Sangphu.\n\nDuring 15th century there was violent struggle to cont
rol and manage the geographic- political landscape. As declared previous th
e monasteries in the Ladakh and Tibet region were dominance and control spo
ts for the region. Monasteries prohibited and owned large tracts of land an
d there by the agricultural produce. Conflicts with the opponent sects of m
onasteries for the political control were pretty familiar. They had to prot
ect its inhabitants and its wealth from opponent attacks. In Likir Gompa La
dakh many monasteries which flourished on that time evolved their complexes
as small fortress perched on strategic height\, utilizing the terrain and
reinforcing it with thick tangential walls to form a protected inner core.
One example is the Likir monastery\; it was a type of a fort-monastery. The
basic hierarchy of the village lives below the slope of the monastery alon
g with monk's residence and at the upper plateau resides the main temple an
d assembly hall complex. The main complex has thin entry and way out points
and has cut off wall surrounding its periphery results in creation of a pr
 otected fort like complex.\n\n\n\nMaitreya Buddha Statue: A massive\, 75-fo

embly Hall): The main assembly hall features two large chortens\, numerous
thangkas (scroll paintings)\, and seating for monks\, including a dedicate
d throne for the head lama.\n\n\n\nGonkhang Temple: Dedicated to the wrathf
ul protector deity Tse-Ta-Pa\, this temple houses dramatic depictions and m
urals of deities like Mahakala\, \n\n \n\nThe Wheel of Life: A detailed M
andala mural representing the cycle of life and death is prominently displa
 yed\, notes the \n\n \n\nAnnual Festival:\nLikir Dosmochey\nLikir Dosmoche
y is a traditional Tibetan Buddhist festival celebrated at Likir Monastery
in Likir\, near Leh. It is part of the wider Dosmochey celebrations held ac
ross Ladakh. The festival usually takes place from the 27th to the 29th day
of the 12th month of the Tibetan lunar calendar\, just before the Tibetan
New Year.\nThe main purpose of Likir Dosmochey is spiritual purification an
d protection of the community. Monks perform sacred rituals and masked danc
es to drive away evil spirits\, negative energies\, and misfortune from the
village and surrounding region. These rituals are believed to clear obstac
les and prepare the community for a peaceful and prosperous new year.\nLiki
r Dosmochey holds great religious and cultural importance for the people of
Ladakh. The festival strengthens Buddhist traditions and community bonds\,
as villagers and pilgrims gather at Likir Monastery to witness the rituals
and receive blessings. The sacred Cham mask dances performed by monks symb
olize the victory of good over evil and the protection of Buddhist teaching
 s. The festival also helps preserve ancient Tibetan Buddhist rituals\, musi
c\, and cultural heritage\, making it an important event in the spiritual l
